(GMT)28 JAN 2018 PLTS-A:  Tumpek Wayang is one of Balinese Hindu sacred day. It is usually comes once in every 210 days and this year it is 20 February 2018
Tumpek Wayang is a special day dedicated towards traditional performing arts in Bali. Emphasis is particularly put on traditional Balinese shadow puppetry, known as wayang. Various offerings are made to the range of character puppets involved in this theatrical art. Tumpek Wayang is one part in a series of Tumpek days for blessing different subjects.
Some areas of Bali use this day to make offerings to musical instruments and dance equipment. This day is also important for the shadow puppets, Wayang Kulit. Many families have inherited puppets from an ancestor who performed them, a dalang. All dalangs have full sets of puppets. The puppets are taken from the box, placed in a position just as if an actual performance were being given and blessed by the owner.
